Aspiring Bed & Breakfast and Farmstay operators have enjoyed an afternoon at Victoria’s best short stay accommodation provider – Heytesbury House in Cobden.
Heytesbury House was adjudged Best Hosted Accommodation in Victoria at the RACV Victorian Tourism Awards late last year. The Gold followed two Silver Awards in the same category in 2016 and 2017.
Owners Kathryn and Andrew Stubbings have hosted the Corangamite Shire workshop for the past three years.
Andrew said hosted accommodation was fast becoming a real asset in the Great Ocean Road region and the couple were only too happy to share their experiences with others hoping to develop accommodation offerings locally.
“Corangamite Shire’s growth and engagement team does a great job with the workshop and provides really valuable information for attendees,” he said.
“We had another big group of locals who are exploring their opportunities to set up short stay accommodation and the workshop covered things like the permits you need and some tricks of the trade.
“Representatives of the Shire’s planning and building department and environmental health team also attended to provide information about a range of things you need to consider when setting up a B&B or farmstay.”
