Heytesbury House owner operators Kathryn and Andrew Stubbings were pleased to be announced as Silver Winners in the Hosted Accommodation category of the Victorian Tourism Awards last week, for the second year running.

Kathryn and Andrew relocated from Melbourne to Cobden seven years ago and took on the challenge of operating Heytesbury House. The property had previously been run as a Bed and Breakfast, and had a period of inactivity prior to their purchase.

Looking for a total change in lifestyle, the couple left the city and headed to South West Victoria to pursue their dreams. While it has had its challenges, the efforts they have put into both the property and the business are now paying off.

“We are very excited that we have received this recognition from the Victorian Tourism Industry Council for the second year running,” Andrew said.

“We were pleasantly surprised to achieve Silver last year, and implemented feedback from our 2016 submission in our 2017 application.

“We continue to review all aspects of our business to continuously improve our operations and what we have to offer guests,” he added.

Improvements during 2017 have included an increased focus on marketing efforts, including the development of a new website.

“We have also developed an increased offering for our guests, including the introduction of special events such as Murder Mystery Dinners, which are proving popular,” Kathryn said.

“To come from no experience in the hospitality industry to achieving Silver two years running is just amazing,” she added.

Heytesbury House Luxury Bed and Breakfast will be featured on Channel Nine’s Postcards program on Saturday 9 December at 5.30pm as part of a Victorian Tourism Awards special.
