NESTLED in the heart of Cobden, Heytesbury House Bed and Breakfast has a special place in history.

The former town doctor residence and hospital has been lovingly transformed into a getaway location for groups, couples and individuals.

The hard work has paid off for owners Andrew and Kathryn Stubbings, who received a silver award in the 2016 RACV Victorian Tourism Awards in the ‘Hosted Accommodation’ category recently.

Mrs Stubbings said the award was “brilliant”.

“To come from no experience in the hospitality industry to this is just amazing,” she said.

“It’s a great way to benchmark where you’re sitting in the industry and if you’re hitting the mark from an industry perspective.”

Mr Stubbings said the couple purchased the property in September 2010 and have tried to work in with other businesses in the area.

He said he was excited about the acknowledgement in the awards.

“It will be interesting to see the judges’ comments.”

The couple hopes to continue to better the business and experience for guests, as well as build relationships with businesses across the district.

“We’re going to continue to really push the business and the region,” Mrs Stubbings said.

“We’re looking at theme nights, we’re open to any suggestions for events and meetings.”
